An early morning fire Monday, of undetermined origin, almost completely wiped out the main building of the West Side Motel and Grocery Store on W. Santa Fe St. The Marion fire department responded quickly before the building was completely consumed, but for all practical purposes it is virtually a total loss.

George Jackson, Norman Bowers, and alternate Wally Slusser were named this week as delegates to the American Legion-sponsored Boys’ State to be held later in the year at Lawrence.

The PTA special, “Opening Night,” on March 29 and 30 will feature music, dancing, and melodrama. Back by popular request are such stars as Bob Edmunds, Conrad Steinel, and Fred Allen, as well as female attractions Maxine Bell and Janice Case.

Three Marion Junior High students Susan Hansen, Jimmy Mayginnes, and Mike Steinel are among the ten winners at the fourth annual Marion County Science Fair. Their winning exhibits will be entered in the Regional Science Fair being held this weekend in Salina.
