Over 320 farmers and businessmen enjoyed the meal and patriotic program Tuesday night of the annual Chamber of Commerce-sponsored Farm-City dinner. A total of 360 steaks were cooked and served along with a full meal and dessert.

High schools in Marion County sent selected members of their government classes to the county seat Monday to take part in the annual County Government Day sponsored by the American Legion. Ninety-six students, representing all but two high schools, spent the day following an interesting and instructive program.

Keith Just of Marion, sophomore at Pittsburg State, was a happy player this weekend. A starting lineman for the Gorillas, he picked up a fumble at Emporia State’s homecoming last weekend and carried it 10 yards to score, fulfilling a lineman’s dream of scoring a touchdown.

A number of Marion High School senior students will go to Tabor College Saturday to take part in the ACT program. They will take four tests whose total score provides an estimate of the student’s ability to succeed academically in college.

Planning to attend are Judy Pankratz, George Jackson, Linda Amick, Norman Bowers, Mary Schimpf, Dean Jost, Wallace Slusser, Dave Goertz, Ruth Johnson, Cheri Bell, LaVonda Hett, Ladd Siebert, Mary Westerhaus, Dennis Conyers, and Darold Longhofer.

Over 500 persons were on hand last Wednesday to view the displays and hear the program at the “Christmas Crafts Day” sponsored by the Marion County Home Economics advisory committee.
