Mrs. G.W. (Maxine) Hill has opened her “Holiday House” shop at the corner of Main at First in Marion, just diagonally across from her husband’s Sears Catalog Store. She will have classes in ceramics and will stock Frankoma pottery. She invites all interested persons to drop in anytime to see her shop and to browse around

Two men were taken into custody by the FBI this week in Shreveport, Louisiana. In their possession were several sheets of the money orders stolen from the Goessel Post Office on the night of October 23.

Lewerenz Hardware store at Lincolnville has been sold to Maurice Pritz of Lincolnville. He took over operation of the popular business this week.

Junior High students at Marion Elementary had a big time Monday with their first annual “Clash Day.” Clashing outfits were worn by the students. The two top winners were Patti Regnier and Lloyd Behrendt. Patti was a clashing scramble of colors with a bright red vest, pink skirt, olive green sweater, one silver slipper, mismatched stocking and a loud necktie. Lloyd was just as mismatched with a green vest, black blazer, checkered cap and vari-colored shoes.

Jean Carlson was crowned Centre’s football homecoming queen at Friday’s football game. Her attendants were Karen Anderson, Kathy Bernhardt, and Pamela Hensley. Their escorts were Keith Haefner, DeWayne Payton, Lloyd Tajchman, and Burdette Peterson. A dance followed the game.

Ground was cleared and initial survey work laid out with stakes for the start this week of construction on the new nursing home in Marion. It is anticipated that the home will be open in about four months. It is to be located just east of Marion Elementary School on Lawrence St.
