Spain Guest Home, 50-bed skilled nursing home now under construction at the east edge of Marion is scheduled for completion around April 1. An open house is to be held soon after that date, according to Mrs. Minnie Spain, who will own and operate the facility.
Bruce Powell, son of Mr. and Mrs. B.C. Powell and a student at KSTC, Emporia, has been named by the Marion Community Athletic Association as summer director of the youth program sponsored here each year.
Several Marion High School students have been serving as pages in the Legislature at Topeka during the recent week, sponsored by Senator William Ward and Representative Lawrence Slocum.
Those who served on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week were David Longhofer, Pat Costello, Norman Mueller, and Mike Wood.
Serving previously were Rebecca Herrick, Dennis Knoblock, Lester Harlan, David Magee, and Myron Frans.
Remodeling of the lobby area of the Marion Postoffice is now all but completed, with finishing touches being added and the improved service conditions now in full time operation. Pictured are Postmaster Ray Vinduska and clerk A.F. “Tommy” Thompson as they point out changes to customers.
Geraldine Berg of Marion was the only winner at Wednesday’s Marion Cash Day drawing. She received $200. Mrs. Bert Shubert, Marion, missed $10; Dean Ollenburger, Marion, missed $5; Richard Brodhead, Marion, missed $25; and Mrs. Owen Meier, Durham, missed $5.
