Pictured admiring the cornerstone of the new American Legion building are the following officers and members of the local post and its building committee: Max Jackson, finance officer; Ed Sandwell, commander; H.W. Sly, first vice-commander; Lonnie Tidwell, adjutant; Bill Ward and Ollie Wight, members of the building committee; and Clive Jarvis, chairman of the building committee.

The Chamber of Commerce-sponsored Salesmanship School was well received this week by the 52 persons who attended the lectures to hear the University of Kansas extension specialist speak on retail salesmanship.

The Marion County city letter carriers and their wives entertained the postmasters and their wives at a covered dish supper Saturday evening at the Marion City Building. Attending from Marion were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Keazer, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Vinduska, Mr. and Mrs. Silas Weidenbener, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hayen, and Mr. and Mrs. Art Schmersey.

Miss Rose Marie Dvorak and Cpl. Donald E. Van Buren were married February 5 at Schofield Barracks Post Chapel, Wahiawa, Hawaii.

The CVL play festival was held Feb. 22 at Cottonwood Falls. Marion’s presentation, “Sunday’s Child,” received a superior rating. Cast members were Charles Muse, Jeaneen Brose, Janice Meisner, Laura Jane Bredemeier, Charles Propp, Bob Kline, and Ethel Hiebert. Mrs. Loris Reed was their director.
