The Marion city marshal’s car has been equipped with a two-way police radio and is now able to be in constant communication with the sheriff’s office during the daytime hours and with other nearby stations and patrol cars at night.

The senior class play, “Our Miss Brooks,” will be presented Friday evening in the high school auditorium. Laura Jane Bredemeier will play the famous radio English teacher, Miss Brooks. An excellent supporting cast of seniors will take part in this annual production.

Today’s youngsters living on South First Street will someday tell their grandchildren, “I remember when a steel bridge, Rogers Bridge, it was called, spanned the old Cottonwood River channel. Along about the spring of ’51 they took it down and poured in over 1,000 truckloads of dirt and rock to make a fill for the cars and trucks to drive over.”

Mr. and Mrs. Ed McGinness of Aulne are the proud parents of a baby boy born April 11 at the Marion hospital. They have given him the name of David Wayne.

Most everyone in the Grapes community attended the spring show and evening programs Thursday and Friday at the city building in Marion. Gerry Herzet was the lucky winner of the electric waffle iron given by Fred Lee and Sons furniture store.

Keith Conyers’ sheep increased to a flock Saturday when one of his ewes gave birth to triplets. Sheep are Keith’s 4-H project.
