Membership on any one of several rural school boards over the county has become a hot spot in recent weeks. The turmoil arises out of the fact that the last legislatures saw fit to make provision that will cause some districts that are disorganized or not conducting school to do something about it.

Sidewalk superintendents have a new fund of material at hand with the work being done preparatory to putting in the new light poles along Main Street,

Bernadean Broadstreet and Fred Piper Jr. were tonsillectomy patients Friday and, on Monday, the same operation was performed on Sylvia Herbert,

Jess Coons, Henry Holub, Janet Holub and Rose Marie Holub left Monday to attend the Memorial Day automobile races in Indianapolis, Ind.

Mrs. Wm. McGinness of Aulne has kept an invitation, printed in 1886, to the formal opening of the Elgin Hotel on Sept. 15 of that year. Mrs. McGinness has kept the souvenir in a treasure chest of keepsakes for a number of years, it having been handed down in the family from Mr. McGinness’ father, who attended the banquet.

Five Marion County registrants have been sent calls to report for induction June 19. Those notified are Gilmer Stubby, Marion; Wilbert Willie Hellman, Hillsboro; Robert Lee Seitz, Hillsboro; Duane Rudolph Sheridan, Peabody; and Gordon James Loewen, Hillsboro.

The barn on the Fred Haefke farm, about three miles southwest of Lincolnville, was struck by lightning and burned to the ground following the storm Wednesday evening.

A revival of oil interests is expected in and around Marion due to the test currently being made on H.H. Johnsmeyer property, southwest of the city.
