Bud’s Conoco Station on West Main Street will have its official grand re-opening this Saturday with a completely new and modern building and fixtures being the highlight of the occasion.
Marion City Commission was notified this week that Marion has been included on the 1952 list of cities that were eligible to receive an asphalt treatment to their Main Street by the Kansas State Highway Department. The job will be done during the summer of 1952.
Motor car and truck owners are again notified that all exhaust pipes must be equipped with mufflers. “Smitty” pipes and straight exhaust pipes are illegal. The police department has been instructed to make arrests of violators. No more warnings are to be given.
Born this week at the Marion Hospital were Ann Christine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Crandall of Tampa, Karen Jean, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Nesser, and Sherry Leigh, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Berg.
A Fourth of July picnic supper will be held July 4 at the Youngtown schoolhouse. The 4-H club will furnish the fireworks and ice cream and drink will be provided. Everyone is invited to bring their supper and enjoy the evening.
Msgr. Sklenar celebrated his Diamond Jubilee June 21 at St. John Nepomucene Church, Pilsen. The sermon of the special occasion was delivered by Bishop Carroll. Servers were Dean Klenda, Benny Klenda, Florian Krch, and Robert Jirak.
