The three-day, citywide “Flood Sale” conducted last weekend by Marion merchants was a real success, according to reports from many persons—both shoppers and merchants.

A picture of Mrs. Carrie Brigham and an interesting story concerning her paintings appeared in a recent issue of The Wichita Eagle.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stika announce the engagement of their daughter, Henrietta, to Mr. Vernon Waner, son of Mrs. Andy Waner. The wedding date has not been set.

Lightning struck the Rufus Osgood house at the southeast edge of Florence early last Monday morning and it burned to the ground. Mr. Osgood and two sons are living temporarily at the home of Mrs. F.C. Utting in Marion.

Genial pioneer businessman, W.C. Loveless, one of Marion’s best known, universally liked, and admired businessmen, died suddenly at his home July 27.
