Lest anyone think this Central Kansas country can’t take a terrific beating and come around with renewed vigor, let him visit Marion and see the remarkable progress made by business owners and residents since the Big Flood.
Four men from the Marion school system are attending coaching school at Topeka this week. They are E.M. Ireland, A.W. Haizlip, Floyd Yaussi, and Harry James.
Mrs. Harold Hauser entertained guests last Thursday morning at a birthday party to honor Christopher’s birthday. Guests included James Robert Meisner, Tommy Tucker, John Russell, John and Gardner Howard, Carl Elling Jr., Barry Avery, Dickie Morse, Candace Whitlock, Lou Esther Wheeler, and Lucinda Hauser.
Betty Williams returned Monday evening from Englewood, N.J., where she was employed at a children’s home during the summer.
Steve Greenemeyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Greenemeyer, won first place in the Summer Youth program-sponsored fishing contest with his catch of a 3-pound Blue Cat. Earl Winter won a new minnow bucket from Gound’s Firestone for catching the most fish during the tournament. His total catch was 60 fish.
