Much needed improvement was added at the Marion City Building the past week. New modern furniture was bought for the auditorium lobby and the city clerk’s office, purchased from the W.J. Haas Furniture store. A new adding machine was also ordered for use in the clerk’s office.
Marion Athletic Association basketball team challenged the Peabody town team Wednesday night on the local high school court and came out on the short end of a 65-54 score. Bob Edmunds, Kerns Allen, and “Doc” Heidi were the spark plug players on the Marion team. Other members not already mentioned are Al Hunt, Jack Summerville, Jack Beaston, and Kenneth Conyers.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Collett announce the engagement of their daughter, Shirley Jean, to Mr. David Bowers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Bowers, Elmdale. The wedding date has not been set.
The Kaw Theatre feature on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday will be “I Was a Male War Bride” featuring Cary Grant and Ann Sheridan.
