Pictured on the front page is the westernmost block of Hudson Street, not too long ago a deep gully. This block was created by a longtime filling process by the city of leaves, dirt and rubbish from the city streets, until now it is hard and settled and an attractive city addition. Homes pictured are those of Fred Hayen, Abe Reh and O.J. Allen.

A.J. Shull was rehired as Marion school superintendent Monday evening at the local school board meeting.

The old fashioned square dance and pie social put on Monday evening in the city building basement by the Hill School PTA was hailed a fine success. An estimated 200 or more persons enjoyed the festival.

Suzanne Wheeler, who will graduate from Kansas State College this semester, will leave soon for Billings, Mont., for internship in medical technology at St. Vincent’s Hospital.
