The Kiwanis Club took on a new job this past week when they decided to purchase a new horse for Lindsey King, 79-year-old colored man who has been operating a trash hauling service in Marion for many years. The horse King was using died two months ago and he has been without means of support. The club decided they were doing both Mr. King and the public a service by purchasing a new horse for him.

At least seven modern two- and three-bedroom homes will be started early in June. They are being sponsored by Riddle Quarries, Inc. This group of homes will be located on the half-block on South Cedar Street recently purchased from Edwin V. Burkholder.

Dr. E.H. Johnson, who had served the Peabody community as a general practitioner for more than 50 years, will be honored March 14 when the community will honor him with a “Dr. Johnson Day.”
