The man-sized job of putting the Marion sewage disposal plant back into shape has been completed, and it is in full operation. Marion citizens can be proud of this essential city service, it is now in first class shape, is fully capable of taking care of the needs of the city with an operation that is fully automatic.
The rural grade schools of Marion County will graduate 106 children this year, a decided increase over the 88 receiving their diplomas last year. The exercises will be held May 9 at Marion City Building, with Prof. A.R. Ebel of Tabor College as speaker.
Those from Marion who plan to attend the Sigmund Romberg concert in Wichita Friday are Mr. and Mrs. John H. Riddle, Mrs. C.A. Pierce and her daughter-in-law Mrs. Phil Pierce, Miss Edna Rupp, Miss Viola Thompson, Miss Julia Campbell, Mrs. Clara McKay, Miss Dorothy Pollitt, and Miss Ruth Jo Willming.
Scouts Dan Brodhead, Harold Byram, Dale Hobein, Marvin Wunsch, Gordon Wingerd, Johnny Williams, Laurence Griggs, Jerry Seifert, Bruce Wingerd, Dick Hoch, Edward Davies, Robert Schmidt, David Montgomery and Junior Wiebe took part Saturday in the ceremonies at Topeka at the dedication of the replica of the Statue of Liberty on the Statehouse grounds.
