The State Corporation Commission on Wednesday issued an order granting the Santa Fe Railway’s request to discontinue its two motor trains, Nos. 57 and 58 as of May 1. The order will stop the familiar “Doodlebug” from traveling between Florence and Ellinwood.

Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Seibel, Marion, announce the engagement of their daughter, Pearl Ann, to Mr. Ezra L. Helmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Helmer of Marion.

Mrs. Eddie Klose was honored Friday evening with a cradle shower at the home of Mrs. Levern Ottensmeier. Assisting hostesses were Mrs. Louis VanHorne and Mrs. Chester McKibbin.

Darrell Weigart, formerly of Grant City, Mo., has been hired by Midwest Tractor and Sales Service as a mechanic. He has had several years experience on Fords, and comes to Marion well recommended. He is married and the father of one child.

“Cheaper by the Dozen,” a comedy in three acts, will be presented by members of the senior class Friday evening. The cast includes David Leppke, Mary Hannaford, Dorothy Sandwell, Gordon Wingerd, Mary Ann Skibbe, John Newcomer, Bill McKibbin, Max Remmers, Larry Stenzel, Alice Ward, Sarabel Wolf, Peggy Weibert, Ted Heath, Max Mathiot, Viola Dody, and James Propp.

Loveless School District No. 9 including Roma and Stephen Collett, Mary Ann and Jerry Louise Herzet, and their teacher, Mrs. Phillip Mehl, visited various places of interest in Marion Wednesday.
