The Santa Fe says it will continue to operate the “Doodlebug” at least until May 15. It is hoped some other means can be supplied by then for mail service between McPherson and Florence.

A move is underway to organize a Better Sportsmen’s Club in this locality, with the hope of making it into a county organization. Principal aims of the group will be to promote wildlife conservation to work toward restocking Marion County areas with game and to build a friendly association among the county’s sportsmen.

Patty Longhofer celebrated her 9th birthday Saturday afternoon with a party and line party to the matinee. The guest list included Rose Mary Ollenberger, Rosalie Dohner, Patty Funk, Beverly Winter, Janet Stiller, Sylvia Herbert, Cheri Wolgast, Judy Richards, Carolyn Reisinger, Mary Sue Reh, Sharon Bartel, Julia Wooldridge, Sandy Long, Lucinda Hauser, Kay Love, Sharon Blankley, and Karen and Donna Jost.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Metzler of Marion announce the engagement of their daughter, Lavere Louise, to Mr. Billie Edwin York, both of Kansas City, Kansas. No wedding date has been set.

Max and John Hayen of the Youngtown community found a Radiosonde that had been released at Dodge City in January. The Radiosondes broadcast weather conditions and are tagged with instructions asking that they be returned.

Mr. and Mrs. Phil Hett and Mrs. Henry Collett took the Loveless School children on a trip to Newton Wednesday. They visited the museum, Sunbeam Bakery, and the roundhouse.
