Dean C. Batt, Marion attorney, this week opened a private office for the general practice of law. His office is located on South Third Street just over the newspaper.
It was learned last week that Jane Foster, for the past three years the Marion County home demonstration agent, will leave late in September or early October for a new assignment in The Dalles, Ore.
Melvin Weems, 14, Peabody, was taken to St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, Aug. 12 suffering with polio. No report has been received at the county health office regarding his condition.
Sub Deb Club met Aug. 7 with Peggy Hayward. New members of the club are Janet Holub, Ginger Price, Marilyn Reh, Vera Remmers, Marlys Rupp, Glenda Razor, Clarice Collett, Karen Brodhead, Donna Williams, Carol Jean Schambron, Nancy Burkholder, and Joan Kline.
The following enjoyed a picnic at the Tampa park Sunday in honor of Laverne Bina’s 10th birthday: Robert Makovec, Ronald Stika, Robert Konarik, V.J. Mastek and family, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Jirak and family, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Collins and Kathy, Patty and Tommy Anderson, and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bina and family.
The engagement of Nora Marie Zeller, daughter of Danny Zeller, to Pfc. Kenneth Conyers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Conyers, Lingle, Wyo., is announced. The wedding will be an event of the fall season.
