A large freshman class that will probably exceed 60 students enrolled Tuesday in Marion High School. The total enrollment in the school will likely be 185-190, the highest in several years, according to Principal Erle Volkland.
A benefit ball game in honor of Gerald Tajchman will be played on the Marion diamond Sunday afternoon. No admission will be charged, but a free-will offering will be taken. Gerald suffered a broken leg in the American Legion Junior League baseball tournament.
Marion School District No. 1 has again contracted for bus drivers who will provide transportation for elementary school students living outside the 2½-mile limit from Marion. High school students are not included.
Ben Anderson, Dale and Darlene and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Anderson were Tuesday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Ford in honor of Joyce Ann’s first birthday.
A double ring ceremony was used at the Methodist Church Thursday at the wedding service of Jean Hagans, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hagans, Manhattan, and Alex Case Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Case, Marion.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Stika Jr. are the parents of an eight-pound girl born Tuesday. They have named her Rita Ann.
