The annual summer recreation and athletic program for school-age children 15 and under, sponsored by the Marion Athletic Association, will start June 15. It will run for two months and will be under the direction of Ross Estes, Marion’s new high school football coach.
The runways of Marion Municipal Airport got one of their periodic, seasonal mowings this week and now again present a good, clear landing pattern from the air for the light planes that use it.
Jerry Schwemmer asked a number of friends for a party last Saturday afternoon in celebration of his 10th birthday. Those present were Jerry and Mike Schwemmer, Stephen Seaton, Johnnie Christensen, Galen Broadstreet, Gary Grentz, Gaylord Dyck and Gerald Kelsey.
Mrs. John Wheeler entertained with a reception Tuesday afternoon complimenting Mary Louise Heath, who will be married June 17. Mrs. Wheeler was assisted by Mrs. Paul Williams, Mrs. C.H. Mullen, Mrs. G.J. Goodsheller, Mrs. W.H. Carpenter, Mrs. S.W. Gound, Mrs. Al Richardson and Mrs. Max Jackson.
Two brass vases were presented to the Presbyterian Church Sunday in memory of the late Barney Amick, long a devoted member of the church. The vases match the brass candlesticks used on special pedestals on either side of the pulpit.
