Friday is Dollar Day in Marion. Many business houses are offering special July bargain day prices on numerous useful articles from their regular stock and also some items purchased especially for the day.

This week the Meadowbrook Ice Cream Store changed names — it now is the Peter Pan Ice Cream Store. Same firm, same owners, same product, new name only, according to Mrs. Fred Greenemeyer, operator.

Carlos Stebbins, who for several months has been recovering from an accident, reports that Dave Leppke, an experienced blacksmith and welder has joined with him and that the shop is open for business.

Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Fruechting received word this week from their son Don, who is at present in a Korean reserve area somewhere near Seoul, has received an advance in rating to corporal. Don is with the First Marine Division.

The engagement of Carolyn Hoffman, daughter of Richard Hoffman of Kansas City, Kansas, to A1/c Warren Woerz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Woerz of Marion, is announced this week.

Scoutmaster Virgil Wiebe took seven scouts to the black canyons near Galva Thursday afternoon where they camped until Saturday afternoon. Scouts who made the trip were Bill Good, Greg Henry, Dennis Navrat, Duane Reed, Earl Winter, Jerry Shirley, and Junior Wiebe.
