Marion Kiwanis Club has started a new program of selecting a “Junior Kiwanian” each month from boys in the senior class at Marion High School. Ronnie Post, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Post, has been selected to be the first boy to be honored under the program.
W.W. “Bill” McKibbin this week announces his purchase of the restaurant just west of the post office on Main Street, known until recently as Bob’s Grill. The name will be changed to “Bill’s Grill.”
Michael Schwemmer celebrated his ninth birthday Tuesday by asking a number of friends to his home for games and refreshments. Those present included Galen and Randy Broadstreet, Stephen Seaton, Monte Gleason, Lowell Ensey, Gary Grentz, and Jerry Schwemmer.
Six of the 27 students from Marion County attending the 1954 spring semester at Emporia State Teachers College are from Marion. They are Carolyn Louise Platt, Marion Leon Navrat, Doris Jean Meredith, Leonard L. Navrat, Bob Gene Cook, and Larry Lee Hoover.
C.F. Brooker, an early pioneer of Kansas and Marion County, died Feb 18 at Sedgwick. He was buried in Marion Cemetery Monday afternoon following memorial services at the Marion Presbyterian Church.
