Dr. R.C. Smith, dean of Marion County physicians, who has practiced medicine here for 50 years, died at his home Monday afternoon.
Harry Weibert, Marion, café owner and oil worker was seriously injured Saturday evening when he fell 15 feet from an oil rig near Lehigh where he was working. He landed on his back on the rig floor, breaking two vertebrae and crushing another.
An outing was enjoyed Monday by the two third grades and their teachers, Miss Maude Thompson and Miss Anita Flickner. The group was taken by school bus over portions of the Old Santa Fe trail in Marion County. Mrs. R.R. Melton accompanied the group as commentator and Mrs. Roland Stenzel helped in guiding the group.
Glenda Lee Koch became the bride of AD3/C Jack Mervin Taylor Jr. at 1:30 p.m. April 24 at the Naval Air Station Protestant Chapel at Corpus Christi, Texas. The couple will live in Corpus Christi.
It was decided at a meeting of the Marion Jaycees Monday evening to start a project of painting house numbers on curbing in front of homes in Marion. The street marking committee is composed of Waite Sterling, chairman, Jack Helmer, Gene Boettcher, and Tony Schafers.
