The annual Businessmen’s Picnic, hosted by the county 4-H clubs for their town businessmen friends and their families, will be held July 27 in the Marion park.
The City of Marion this week joined countless other cities in Kansas in restricting the use of water in order to conserve a dwindling supply.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Collett purchased the house on north Cedar owned by Fred Knackstedt. It is the property formerly owned by Claud Ayler. They are remodeling it and expect to be moved in by the first of September.
Pictured camp leaders at Rock Springs Ranch for younger 4-H members July 11 to 14 included Keith Conyers of Marion and Gene Guthrie and Lynne Kottwitz of Peabody.
Mr. and Mrs. Max Merrill moved to Wichita the first of the week. Max has accepted a position as geologist with Carter Oil Co. His headquarters will be at Wichita temporarily.
Mrs. Claud Hedrick entertained with a wiener roast at the waterworks park Wednesday evening in honor of the 13th birthday of her daughter, Shirley May. The following were guests: Beverly Bredemeier, Karon Highsmith, Elverra Griffin, and Dorothy Hedrick.
Misses Anita Collett, Norma Sly, and Donna Miesse left Wednesday evening for a vacation at Eureka Springs, Arkansas. They will stay until Monday.
