The automobile driver education and training course instituted this year at Marion High School is proving to be very popular with the students. A new 1955 Chevrolet 210 four-door sedan has been loaned to the school by Cook Motor Company. Dual controls for both driver and instructor will be installed. Floyd Yaussi is instructor of the class of 21 students.

Garry Vogel, northwest of Marion, suffered an unusual accident Friday. He was using an electric saw when it jumped back and caught his right leg just above the knee. Fifty stitches were required to close the wound.

Mrs. Willard Conyers and son, Dennis, picked up several of his friends Thursday afternoon and took them to their home southeast of Marion to celebrate Dennis’ birthday. Those at the party were Dean Jost, Bobby Good, Blair Post, Bobby Hoch, George Jackson, Wallace Slusser, Richard Hume and Wayne King.

Mrs. Jerry Hett and Mrs. Jack Adams were hostesses at a bridal shower at the Hett home honoring Cora McCarty whose marriage to Robert Call was an event of October 30.

Over 350 were served either a roast beef or chicken dinner Monday evening at the Marion City Building when St. Mark Catholic Church held a fall bazaar and dinner. Several prizes were given away and a special gift from Mamie Eisenhower was raffled off.
