The mass immunization of the Salk vaccine to first and second grade students moved along without a hitch Thursday morning and 620 students were inoculated, according to County Health Officer Dr. T.C. Ensey.

The annual celebration of Music Week in Marion will be next week. Guest performers at the Thursday evening program will be five fourth grade girls who will present a violin quintet. They are Anita Schlehuber, Mary Stephens, Jean Morse, Betty Tipton, and Mary Melton. Mrs. Kenneth Swanson is their instructor.

Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Padgett announce the wedding of their daughter, Betty Jean, to Walter Ireland, son of Mrs. Frank Ireland and the late Mr. Ireland. The wedding ceremony was solemnized April 10 at Fort Worth, Texas.

Marion’s track team spent Friday and Saturday at the KU Relays in Lawrence. The mile relay team of Meier, Williams, Lais and Richards participated in a special mile relay feature race and tied for first place with a time of 2:33.7, a new school record.

Square dance enthusiasts Mr. and Mrs. C.J. Ross, Mr. and Mrs. Hazel Meierhoff, Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Hassinger, Dr. and Mrs. T.C. Ensey, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Pierce, and Mr. and Mrs. Steve Winchester, drove to Oklahoma Thursday of last week to attend the three-day national Square Dance Festival.
