Next in the paper’s weekly feature of new homes in Marion is the brick veneer home of Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Bernhardt at 228 N. Cedar. The house was constructed by John Bessel, Mrs. Bernhardt’s father, and is situated on a choice corner location.

Two Spanish-American War veterans, W.S. McKibbin of Marion and Harry B. Embree of Peabody, got together with their wives at the McKibbin home Monday for a renewal of friendship that dates back to August 15, 1899, when the two men enlisted in Company K, 35th Infantry, of the U.S. Volunteers.

Reunions reported this week included the 21st annual Blankley reunion at Marion Country Club, the Bredemeier reunion at Marion County Lake, and the 37th annual Hett reunion at the Marion Waterworks Park.

Weddings reported in this issue were those of Darlene Schwendiman and Eugene Tinberg, August 14, Mary Margaret Hannaford and Robert W. Exline, August 14, Anita Kay Collett and Kenneth D. Sly, August 13, and Marjorie Mae Carter and Joe W. Gound, August 10.

The following boys returned Saturday from the National Guard camp at Camp McCoy, Sparton, Wisconsin: Jim and Hubert Piland, Donnie Seibel, Howard Williams, Dale Johnston, Jim Smith, Robert Bratton, and Wade Robertson.
