Sid Fogel of Los Angeles who is visiting relatives in Marion was the speaker at Marion Kiwanis Club Monday. He spoke interestingly of motion picture production and especially the current Wyatt Earp series on television that he directed. Fogel had 25 years experience in movie production before going into television.
Mrs. R.K. Maybell of Marion has been named welfare director for Marion County effective March 1. She succeeds Dale Jirik who has resigned to take an advance position with the state department.
Births announced this week included Carol Ann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Holt, born Feb. 2 in Herington and Mary Jane, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Reznicek born Feb. 13 at St. Luke Hospital.
Marion High School girls’ triple trio entertained at the Business and Professional Women’s Valentine banquet Tuesday evening. Members of the group are Margie Bernhardt, Roma Collett, Gaila Jost, Jeanette Russell, Maxine Hinz, Judy Coons, Lenore Wheeler, Elda Pankratz, and Margaret McClain. Kay Navrat is their accompanist.
Pupils of Dickerson School and their mothers enjoyed a valentine party Tuesday afternoon planned by the teacher, Mrs. Gene Atterbury. The pupils gave a program and bingo was played after which refreshments were served.
