One of the most outstanding senior classes in the history of Marion High School will graduate this year. In addition to being the largest class ever to graduate, with 58 on the list, it also is the highest academically since any comparative records have been compiled. Other large classes in recent years were 56 graduates in 1945 and 54 in 1939. The class of 1926 was the largest until that time.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Klein, Marion, announce the engagement of their daughter Arlene Mae, to Vernon LaVall Bowers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bowers Sr., Marion. No wedding date has been set.
Members of the Kansas Industrial Development Commission, Kansas State College, and the state Chamber of Commerce will conduct an “industrial clinic” in Marion Monday evening.
Gene Hett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Hett, celebrated his fifth birthday May 3 by inviting his friends for a party. Those present included Bryce Ollenberger, Steven Janzen, Sara Heidel, Steve May, Pamela Adams, Jocelyn Goentzel, Terry Ray Stubbs, El Dorado, and Dennis Hett, Florence.
Five of the seven children of the Hubert Piland family, Youngtown community, had their tonsils removed one day last week at the Hillsboro hospital. The children, Johnnie, Ada, Billy, Grace and Mike, range in age from 14 to four.
