Miss Jeanette Russell of Marion, representing the Marion County Fair Association, was voted “Miss Congeniality” at the Miss Kansas contest in Pratt last week.

Dale Anderson, Marion, who is working for SanOre Construction Company on the Kansas Turnpike near Arkansas City, rescued a huge molar as it was dumped into his truck by a scoop excavating gravel. The tooth weighs almost six pounds and measures a good 8 inches in length with a circumference of 18 inches.

Rose Marie Vlk Vinduska received $125 in this week’s Cash Day drawing. Other winners were Mrs. Ora Kelsey, $15, and Dorothy Conyers, $10. Mrs. H.C. Post and Duane Fruechting were not present to claim their prizes.

The moving of Leslie Broadstreet’s “Studio Moderne” from over the Marion Pharmacy to the Case building is complete and they now are open for business and visitors in the new location.

A group of girls is planning a week-long vacation trip to Lake Taneycomo in the Missouri Ozarks for a week starting Monday. Those planning to go are Barbara Jirak, Mary Ann Miller, Rose Marie Holub, Joan Svoboda, Vernie Jirak, and Marlyn and Margaret Biehler, Herington.

Eugene Just, rural Marion, has been awarded a $250 scholarship to Kansas State College at Manhattan by the Martin K. Eby Construction Co.
