A new store specializing in decorated cakes and pastry, along with a complete line of bakery products, will open in Marion about Sept. 1. It is a branch of Saundra’s Bread and Pastry Shop of Herington

Marion’s top-notch Babe Ruth ball team enters the state tournament at Kingman Friday evening when they will meet the winner of the Sunflower League, a Wichita league. Team members are Larry Burkholder, Jerry Schwemmer, Bob Bass, Bud Kelsey, Coy Giles, Garry Vogel, Gerald Kelsey, Mickey Summervill Dennis Robertson, Dennis Navrat, Warren Vogel, Delton Richmond, Keith Conyers, Jim Gilbert, and John Christensen.

Pat Costello, who was seven years old Wednesday, celebrated his birthday by inviting friends to accompany him to KARD-TV for the four o’clock show. The following attended with Pat: David Longhofer, Bobby Elling, Mike and Patsy Wood, and Cathleen Costello.

Sub-Deb Club met Thursday evening at the home of Lenore Wheeler. Assisting hostesses were Judy Cogdill and Jeanne Kline. Mrs. D.W. Montgomery was guest speaker. New members welcomed were Bernadean Broadstreet, Molly Brodhead, Judy Covey, Marilyn Dixon, Sandra Hammer, Sandra Higgins, Gaila Jost, Darlene Oblander, Caroline Susdorf, Rosalie Cogdill, Mary Ann Williams, and Delores Schafer.
