Marion’s new, modern water plant went into operation on a limited basis today. The public is asked to bear with it for a while as it will take several days for the plant to become regulated and lines adjusted.
Boyce Baumgartner, a recent graduate of Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia, has been hired to work at Marion National Bank, according to Matthew Classen, president.
Paul Shahan, Marion postmaster, announces his resignation, effective June 19. He has been in Postal Service here for more than 46 years, serving under six postmasters before receiving his permanent appointment from President Dwight Eisenhower in July, 1958.
Margaret Ann Weber, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Weber, and Airman 3rd Class Ora N. Hett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Hett, were married at 4:30 p.m. May 29 as the Orville Hett home.
The four-district school unification plan presented Sunday to Marion County voters failed to pass by an almost two-to-one margin. The unification board must try again and present another plan by July 1 for another public vote in September.
