Pictured on Page 1 is the fabled big spring in Marion’s Central Park, showing a hewn stone wall and spring entrance being unearthed by workers. Spring waters have welled up to the surface and started to flow again after many years of being covered under several feet of earth.
Lowell Ensey has been hired to be Marion’s summer youth program director.
Workers are rushing this week to complete a fine new multiple-use building being constructed by Cottonwood Valley Saddle Horse Association at the east edge of the city. The building will get its first use in May for the livestock spring show.
Barbara Christensen, a senior at Marion High School, has been named recipient of the Balfour Award for 1964-’65. The award is presented annually to a senior who exemplifies academic excellence and leadership.
Seaman Earl W. Winter is serving aboard the guided missile destroyer USS Claude V. Ricketts, operating with the U.S. 6th Fleet in the Mediterranean. The ship is staffed by sailors from Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, the United States, and West Germany, all members of NATO.
