White Star Machine and Supply Co. demonstrated a new Hydro-Scoop to county and city officials this past week. They did so by digging out the old spring in Central Park, getting the spring flowing again.

Glenn Dody, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Dody of Marion, has retired with the rank of major after 20 years of service in the military.

His career began when he enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1942. Discharged in 1945, he enlisted in the Air Force in 1948.

His military career ended at the underground air defense complex at Cheyenne Mountain, south of Colorado Springs.

Matthew Classen was elected president of Marion Kiwanis Club at a regular meeting Monday. Roger Hannaford was elected first vice president, and Dave Hanson second vice-president.

A total of 38 performers took part Saturday evening in an amateur talent show sponsored by Marion Jaycees.

Winners in the high school category were “Susan and the Bachelors,” a musical group made up of Susan Hansen, Bryce Ollenberger, Mike Steinel, and Ed Cook.

An article this week tells about Stars and Stripes, the armed forces newspaper, recently publishing an item about what U.S. Marines were doing to win the war in Vietnam.

The article used as an example what M Company, 3rd Battalion, 7 Marine Regiment did in a recent three-day period.
