The annual meeting of the Neosho-Cottonwood Flood Control and Conservation Association was Monday in Marion. More than 145 county residents and visitors attended a luncheon before touring Marion Dam and Reservoir.
Marion High School’s mixed chorus presented a vocal concert Tuesday evening in the city auditorium. Solo parts were sung by Beverly Hoch, Helen Jackson, Toni McElwain, Rodney Oelschlager, Judy Pankratz, and Mary Westerhaus. Accompanists were Pat Warneke and Mary Westerhaus.
Streetlights will go on with colored bulbs strung along both side of Main St.. stores will be open later than usual. and prizes will be offered to adults and children this Friday, Nov. 26, at Marion’s annual Christmas opening.
Pat Jackson’s physical education advanced classes for girls at Marion High School have completed their golf phase and two golf tournaments. Linda Amick and Susan Bailey won a Scotch twosome contest. Rita Jost won a match-hole handicap tournament. Linda Amick was second; Barbara Bailey, third; and Barbara Hunt, fourth.
P.D. Ens, county health officer, is urging residents to obtain flu shots as early as possible because an influenza outbreak appears likely this winter.
