State highway officials were in Marion on Monday to advise officials of major improvements planned for US-56. Improvements will be along the present highway route, without major location change.
Marion American Legion junior baseball team won its first game this season Sunday by defeating Herington 7-2. Mark Klenda pitched a 4-hit game for Marion and struck out six.
After an unusually dry spring and winter, Marion County farmers were finally ready to start harvesting a wheat crop that had been doubtful several times.
