A new soda fountain, the very latest in modern equipment, is being installed at the Marion Pharmacy, according to E.E. Phillips. The new fountain will featured all new working parts, including a new carbonator. The entire unit is designed to comply with recent pure food and drugs acts regarding sanitation. The refrigeration unit also is brand new.
The junior class will present a mystery/comedy, “Mystery at Midnight,” Jan. 31 and Feb. 1. Lead parts will be played by Max Merrill, Nora Zeller, Vicki Barrett, and Jim Fruechting. Other characters are portrayed by Kathryn Popp, Treva Kelsey, Bud Hannaford, Bill Markham, Joan Winkley and Dick Bredemeier.
Newton Kleopfer, 41, Ramona garage operator, was killed and his wife and brother-in-law were severely injured early Tuesday morning when the car in which they were riding was struck by a Rock Island freight train at the crossing in Herington.
The Aulne post office is being moved Monday from the elevator office to the Aulne grocery store. Willis Linn is the new postmaster.
June Schlotz, Madeline Penland, Mary Ann Bartel, and Pat Brose, Marion High School girls who celebrated birthdays recently, were guests of honor at a surprise luncheon Wednesday noon at the home of Jean Muse. Other guests were Luetta Bartel, Mary Louise Heath, Lois Kelsey, Joan Bell, Lucy Sandwell and Violet Krispense.
Marion Electric Company announces this week their appointment as dealers for Marion of the full line of General Electric appliances. Owner-managers Les Ollenberger and Jack Seaton are planning a big open house in the near future to show the new line.
