The Rock Island Railway has petitioned the State Corporation of Kansas to grant authorization to close its station in Antelope except during the harvest season each year, and to discontinue express service by the Railway Express Agency.
J.K. Warkentin’s term as Clerk of Marion County ended Jan. 10 after an unbroken tenure of 20 years. Warkentin’s current plans are to devote part of his time as a consultant in income tax matters.
Dale Johnson was an appendectomy patient at the Marion Hospital last Wednesday. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Johnson. Rosalie Dohner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Dohner, was a tonsillectomy patient last Friday.
Frena Hedrick was entertained at the home of her sister, Mrs. Neal Mosley, Wednesday evening in honor of her 14th birthday. Guests were Shirley Mayfield, Pauline Minear, Peggy Hayward, Diana Herbert, Shirley Tiemeier, Cora McCarty, Eilene Hansen and the honoree. Nancy Allen was unable to be present.

It seems that when it starts to warm up, after a long freeze like we have had, warm air above drives the frost line deeper into the ground. Hardest hit spots are not pipes in houses, but ones crossing streets underground. The city crew has been busy for three days thawing out frozen lines.
