A densely smoking, long-smoldering fire Sunday almost completely damaged the extensive stock of men’s and boy’s clothing at Jackson Clothing Store. An early estimate of the damage placed an approximate $12,000 figure on damage to the contents and about $3,000 on the building.

Mr. and Mrs. Joyce Carlson, Lincolnville, are the parents of a son, Ronnie Lee, born Friday, May 6, at the Stubenhofer home at Strong City.

Bud Rhodes, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Rhodes, Arlene Pierce Smith, daughter of Mrs. C.A. Pierce, and Ernest Homes Jr. son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Holmes were among the more than 1000 young men and women who graduated Sunday evening at Kansas State College, Manhattan.

Recent new car deliveries by Paul Seifert Motor Company included the following: Chevrolet Styleline convertible coupe to John Brose; Fleetline deluxe 4-door sedan to Allen Kimble; 2-ton truck to Leo Brose; and a 1-ton truck to Karl Seifert.

Boys in Cub Scout Troop II and their Den Chiefs, Johnnie Newcomer and Michael Brodhead, had a campout Wednesday night at Dog Fish Island. Cubs attending were Jerry Richards, Dick Hoch, Bruce Wingerd, Bill Meredith, Donald Winters, and Jerry Seifert.

Charles Muse is a representative of the youth of the Methodist church this week at the Conference Institute in Winfield.
