E.F. Nelson, prominent Marion businessman for the past 19 years, announced this week the sale of his interests in the Farmers and Drovers National Bank to L.L. Hadsell of Sterling. The transaction will become effective Dec. 1.

William E. Gayer was set free by a “Not Guilty” verdict returned Wednesday by the 12-man jury following his trial for the murder of Herbert Kindred. The crime now becomes an unsolved mystery.

Three young men from Marion County have enlisted in the Army at Marion Recruiting Station. Robert Call, Marion, enlisted for U.S. Constabulary, 6 years; James P. Stone, Peabody, enlisted for U.S. Constabulary, 3 years; and Marion C. Bitner, Florence, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force for three years.

Miss Nancy Colburn, Miss Mary Helen King, and Dr. Curtis Darby, all of Santa Barbara, Calif., came Sunday for a week’s visit. Miss Colburn is the guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Braden Johnston, and Miss King and Dr. Darby left Monday to be with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe King in Kansas City.

Mr. and Mrs. Wallis Hoch of Gresham, Oregon, announce the engagement of their daughter, Anna Lou, to Malcolm Pfautz of Lawrence. The wedding date has been set for Feb. 1.

Radio KFH’s popular Ark Valley Boys will be the featured attraction at a show and dance to be held in Tampa Nov. 17. The event is sponsored by Moffitt-Crandall Post No. 372 of the American Legion. The show will be presented from the stage of the Tampa High School auditorium and the dance will be held immediately after the show at Al’s Café.
