A crop of 107.36 bushels per acre won the Marion County corn-growing championship this year. Albert Klenda, Marion, is the grower who made this outstanding yield in this locality. A.W. Lutz, Florence, was second with 101 bushels per acre.

Miss Eileen Hoover, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Hoover, Marion, became the bride of Mr. Vernon Regier, son of Mrs. Henry Regier, also of Marion, Dec. 5 at the Evangelical United Brethren Church.

Darlene Oblander celebrated her eighth birthday with a party at her home Nov. 30. Guests were Jan Blackwelder, Bernadine Broadstreet, Marilyn Dixon, Mary Williams, Gaila Jost, Brook Montgomery, Susan Thiel, Margo Webster, Caroline Susdorf, Joan Johnson, Rita Miser, Molly Brodhead, and Carol Hollar.

Attending the Quivera Council scout circus in Wichita Saturday were the following Boy Scouts: Michael Brodhead, Jerry Brose, Harold Byram, Don Hayen, Ted Heath, Larry Johnson, Jackie Lais, John Newcomer, Dennis Richards, Donald Seibel, Harold Shields, James Smith, David Wheeler, Gordon Wingerd, Marvin Wunsch, and Sammy Jewett.

A large crowd of farmers, over 600 in all, was in Marion last Thursday to attend the “John Deere Day” tractor and implement show sponsored by Bernhardt and Utting Implement Co. The farmers were guests at noon of Ezra Bernhardt and Bill Utting at a luncheon in the banquet room of the city building.
