H.G. McDaris, owner of McDaris Implement Company, announced this week that he has been awarded the Oldsmobile dealership for Marion County. A new 1948 Olds sedan has been placed on display at their showroom on the corner of Walnut and Santa Fe Sts.

Pupils attending the Marion city schools got an unexpected vacation Tuesday when classes were dismissed to conserve gas because of the heavy fuel demand resulting from the severe cold spell.

According to an ordinance published in this issue the salary of the Marion City Clerk is being raised to $120 per month and that of the City Marshal to $140 per month.

Second grade students, all members of Brownie Troop No. 5, and their leader, Mrs. Wayne Johnson, visited the newspaper office Monday afternoon. Brownies present included Marilyn Dixon, Molly Brodhead, Darlene Oblander, Carol Frances Hollar, Carol Ann Perriman, Gaila Marie Jost, Joan Johnson, Susan Thiel, Jeannie Harris, and Wanda Johnson.

The bowling alleys of the Marion Recreation Parlor will reopen Feb. 7 under the new ownership of Gordon DeWesse and Kenneth Bigler. The alleys have been refinished and new automatic pinsetters are being installed.

Another addition to the bright lights along Main Street is the attractive new neon Dodge and Plymouth sign installed last week on the front of Powell Motor Company building.
