Marion County has followed the trend in shrinkage of bank assets all over the nation. Total deposits dropped almost $900,000 in the county according to bank statements of the county banks following the April 12 call. Total assets are $11,541,565, a drop of $885,890.

Band concerts, religious programs, local talent spiced with numbers from Tabor, and an outstanding motion picture are planned in observance of Music Week from May 2 to 9.

Forty Marion residents representing all the organizations of the community met in the city building Tuesday to plan the Clean-up, Paint-up, and Fix-up Weeks to be observed May 3 to 15.

The junior high school athletic banquet was held Saturday night at the City Building. Athletic awards went to Dennis Richards, Billy McKibbin, Leroy Roberts, James Miesse, Irvin Eitzen, Dan Brodhead, Eugene Christensen, Jerry Tuell, John Newcomer, Ted Heath, Joe Soyez, Harold Byram, David Wheeler, Larry Stenzel, Don Burkholder, and Carl Neuhauser. Clair Hyde was crowned queen and Dennis Richards was chosen as king. Attendants were Mary Margaret Hannaford, Billy McKibbin, Shirley Tiemeier, Jack Lais, Charlene Youk, and Ronald Post.

Announcement is made this week of the purchase of the business and chiropractic equipment of Drs. P.J. and Grace Hanson by Dr. Lulu Stevenson of Wichita.
