Two near-antiques, an early ladder wagon and hose reel, were gently rolled from their storage stalls at the city water works last week for one last dusting and polishing as part of the activities centering around the Chamber of Commerce program honoring members of the Marion Fire Department. Old age, hard usage, and termites had taken their toll however and the ladder wagon fell apart just after the picture (on the front page) was taken.

A Main Street business transaction that concluded this week was the purchase of the Sanitary Market by Art Miller from his brother, Milton Miller. The two have been operating the firm for the past several months, since purchasing it from Mr. and Mrs. Clive Jarvis.

Six members were initiated into the Sub Deb Club Saturday night. They were Virginia Wright, Norma Sly, Nora Zeller, Joyce Keazer, Patsy Hett, and Vicki Barrett. A slumber party was held afterward at the County Club house.

Mr. and Mrs. H.F. K. Mueller, Tampa, announce the engagement of their daughter, Paula, to Warren D. Fike, son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Fike, Ramona.

The race track at the Saddle Horse grounds has been brought up to the proper grade and smoothed down in preparation for races. Ball park patrons are asked not to drive over the track, especially during wet weather.
