Pictured is the new center of maintenance operations of the Marion County Highway Department. Located on N. Coble St., it is a bright, modern, well-arranged building that has become an efficient factor in the smooth, economical operation of county equipment.

“Dunn and Broadstreet,” musical entertainers will put on the big free show at the city building auditorium March 24.

Members of the group are Berle Broadstreet, Lois Kelsey, Ronald Kieferle, Max Dunn, Betty Tiemeier, Elmer Hanneman, Harold Taylor, Bob Delk, Etta Richmond, Eddie Druse, Kenneth Lucas, and Dave Bowers.

The newspaper, this week, received an interesting letter from Chaplain (Capt.) Emil J. Kapaun in Japan. In ordering the paper he says, “As you know, once a fellow is a long way from home he appreciates even more the news that takes place in his old home.”

Dr. E.H. Johnson, Peabody general practitioner for 50 years, was honored yesterday when an estimated 1,500 friends gathered at the high school in celebration of his long time service to the community. Many of the group were wearing lapel buttons reading, “I am a Dr. Johnson baby.”
