Two new business moves this week are those of Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Hassinger, who are buying the Mack Hardware building at the corner of Main and 2nd Sts., and Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Broadstreet, who have leased the present Jackson’s store location in the Case building.

Margie Bernhardt and Maxine Hinz were named this week to go to Girls State from June 10 to 17 at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. Alternates are Elda Pankratz and Mary Lou Conyers.

The roller skating rink at the northwest edge of Marion will reopen two evenings a week beginning this Sunday, according to an announcement by Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Helmer.

Mrs. Joe Atherton asked fifth grade girls to a party after school Wednesday honoring the 11th birthday or her daughter, JoEllen. Girls attending were Sydney Hume, Edith Jewett, Ruth Lais, Glenda May, Donna Newsom, Helen Olsen, Mary Stevens, and Betty Tipton.

Mrs. James L. Williams will open a real estate and loan office in the former Petersen Barber Shop room in the Thies Grocery building at the corner of Main and Cedar Sts.

A musical style review showing new spring costumes for 8-year-olds to adults was given at the regular monthly meeting Tuesday evening of Community Guild.

The program was planned and given by Betty Lou Kellum, supervisor of music in the grade schools, and Joan Kirk, teacher of home economics in the high school. The fashion show closed with a verse of “April Showers” by the entire cast.
