Bown-Corby students presented their annual May Fete Tuesday evening at the Marion gymnasium. A processional brought on trumpeters, baton twirlers, a rhythm band, balloon boys and girls, attendants, and pageboys. Then came crown bearer Jo Beth Crawford, royal consort Don Westerhaus, and the queen of May, Coralie Crawford.

Eighty-one rural eighth grade students of Marion County will receive their diplomas May 11 in Marion City Auditorium at annual graduation exercises for rural schools.

A sign in the front yard of the Gail Merrill residence last week proclaimed arrival of their grandson, Mitchell Harris Merrill, son of Lieutenant and Mrs. Max Merrill, now living in St. Louis.

A group of juniors gathered at the Price home Thursday evening for a wiener roast between shifts at decorating for the Junior-Senior Banquet. Those present were Johnsie Just, Betty Matthews, Delores Shafer, Joyce Pientka, Elda Pankratz, Margie Bernhardt, Maxine Hinz, Mary Lou Conyers, Pat Dixon, Margaret McClain, Dee Cheek, Mickey Seaton, Wade Robertson, Bob Eckstrom, Bill Burkholder, and John Price.

A group of grade school students, mothers, and sponsors left Marion by train Friday afternoon for a trip to Chicago. They joined a special train that carried 800 pupils and sponsors. Meals and a bus trip to interesting places in Chicago were included with their train ticket.
