Jeanette Russell of Marion, representing Marion County Fair Association, was voted Miss Congeniality last week at the Miss Kansas contest in Pratt.

Dale Anderson, Marion, who is working for SanOre Construction on the Kansas Turnpike near Arkansas City, rescued a huge molar as it was dumped into his truck by a scoop excavating gravel. The tooth weighs almost six pounds and measures a good eight inches in length with a circumference of 18 inches.

Rose Marie Vlk Vinduska received $125 in this week’s Cash Day drawing. Other winners were Mrs. Ora Kelsey, $15, and Dorothy Conyers, $10. Mrs. H.C. Post and Duane Fruechting were not present to claim their prizes.

The moving of Leslie Broadstreet’s Studio Moderne from over Marion Pharmacy to the Case building is complete. The studio now is open for business and visitors in the new location.

A group of girls is planning a week-long vacation trip to Lake Taneycomo in the Missouri Ozarks for a week starting Monday. Those planning to go are Marlyn and Margaret Biehler of Herington and Rose Marie Holub, Barbara Jirak, Vernie Jirak, Mary Ann Miller, and Joan Svoboda.

Eugene Just, rural Marion, has received a $250 scholarship to Kansas State College at Manhattan from Martin K. Eby Construction Co.
