County health director O.C. McCandless announced Tuesday that Marion has six eating establishments that have earned a Grade A rating and five that have earned Grade B. Restaurants earning Grade A ratings include Coons’ Restaurant, Cozy Café, Cubby Hole, DelMar, Lee’s Grill, and Owl Car Lunch.

Case and Son, the oldest business in Marion, celebrated its 80th birthday Sunday. It was established in 1868 by Alex E. Case. Case and Son is now operated by the third generation, Alex H. Case.

The Paul Seifert Motor Co. is displaying a fleet line two-door sedan in the new 1948 line of automobiles.

Jessie Dody Sumner Stotts, who was born in Marion County more than 70 years ago, has accepted an invitation to be one of the hostesses today at the annual Kansas Day birthday banquet in Topeka Municipal Auditorium.

An advertisement by Moderne Studio shows two smiling blonde youngsters, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Mason Fetrow of Cedar Point. Carol is 2 years old, and Judy Anne is 3½ .

Winter held the Marion community firmly in its grip for the past week with thermometers hovering near zero or below each night. Lowest temperature came Tuesday night when the range seemed to be from 6 to 13 below, depending on the location of the thermometer, with 8 below registered in a sheltered spot at the lake.
