Several Marion County citizens were in Washington last week to take part in hearings on flood control. They are appearing in favor of an alternate proposal of a number of smaller dams rather than a large dam above Marion on the Cottonwood.
Members of Marion High School senior class traveled this weekend trip to Lake Taneycomo, Missouri, under the sponsorship of D.B. Jantz.
One of Marion’s established business houses changed hands Sunday when Mrs. Wayne Johnson purchased the DelMar Café on N. 3rd St. from Clara Dody.
Grace Jost, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George S. Jost, Hillsboro, has accepted the position as Marion County health nurse.
The annual Senior Awards chapel was Thursday. Valedictorian honors were divided between Donna Hobein and Madeline Penland. Madeline also won the Balfour award. Danforth awards went to Kerns Allen and Mary Bartel.
The Youngtown church building was hit hard by a twister Friday evening and was damaged beyond repair. Plans are underway to erect another church building.
