US-77, through the cooperation of the state highway department, will be closed at the Country Club hill for a couple of hours Aug. 28 to provide a suitable course for a soap box derby. Traffic will be routed south one mile around the municipal airport.
The congregation of Youngtown Church gathered Aug. 14 to lay a cornerstone of the structure they are building. Sealed and cemented into the stone are interesting and historical documents pertaining to the church and community.
Construction has started on extensive improvements at Paul Seifert Motor Co. A modern block building is being built across the alley and will house washing and greasing racks. It adjoins a Quonset-type building that is the separate body, fender, and paint shop of the firm.
A Midget ball team sponsored by Case and Son Insurance and coached by Rosse and Junior Case is winner of this year’s championship.
Team members are John Childs, Edward Davies, Larry Fisher, Laurence Griggs, Jack and Leon Lais, Bill Meredith, John Minear, Charles Muse, Paul Roberts, Harold Shields, and John Shull.
